Funded by Scottish Legal Aid Board and in Partnership with Bellshill and Mossend YMCA and Airdrie Citizens Advice Bureau, our Families 1st advice project is now up and running. This project has been funded for 2 years.
The team consists of three members of staff – Evelyn Anderson (Family Advice Worker) Emma Petit and Alastair Wilcox (Family Financial Education Workers). Both Evelyn and Emma are based within the YMCA whilst Alastair is based at Motherwell and Wishaw CAB.
Our primary aim is to offer advice and assistance to North Lanarkshire families with young children who have experienced a change in their personal circumstances. Our objective is to help them tackle the financial and emotional pressure this change may have added to their lives.
Our secondary aim is to deliver group financial education sessions with the added benefit of offering a one to one Money Advice session upon request. This part of the project is not restricted to families and is open to any group based in North Lanarkshire. These sessions will also help to raise awareness of the other services available from the CAB and the local community.
