Motherwell & Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau is a voluntary, confidential, independent and free community service dedicated to helping local people to find solutions to problems.

The bureau offers information and advice on a wide range of subjects including housing problems; how to deal with debt; employment problems; social security benefits claims and appeals; shopping rights and much more……….

History:

Motherwell and Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau has served the local community since 14th December 1942, when it held advice clinics in the libraries in the towns of Motherwell and Wishaw, to deal with wartime problems. Within 6 months it had helped with 600 problems. In 2007/08 the bureau handled 36,372 problems.

Volunteering

The bureau’s management committee and the majority of its advisers and clerical workers are volunteers – we are always keen to hear from anyone who is considering voluntary work in the community as the bureau may be just the place to suit your needs. Full training is provided.
