Pension Wise

From April 2015, if you’re close to, or over 50 and have a defined contribution pension (a pension based on how much has been paid into your pot), it’s your decision how you take the money.

Pension Wise is a free and impartial service provided by the UK Government to help pension wisepeople understand what their choices are. Clients can get guidance on the phone through The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) and online via the government’s Pension Wise website. Face to face advice will be available through Citizens Advice Bureaux. If you are close to, or over 50, with a defined contribution pension, you are entitled to a free, impartial Pension Wise appointment.

The Pension Wise service will be delivered across Scotland by our network of CAB members operating in 90 CAB offices and over 200 service points. Local arrangements will also be made for people in remote locations, including home visits.

An appointment is a 45 minute conversation between you and a Pension Wise guidance specialist. You’ll get personal guidance on what you can do with your pension pot.

Appointments are over the phone or face to face.
