PRESS RELEASE

CAB VOWS TO HELP PEOPLE THROUGH CORONAVIRUS

Motherwell & Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau has announced it has had to close its main bureau and outreach locations but will continue to offer its services to local people to help them through the Coronavirus period.

CAB Manager Alana Forsyth said today,

"We understand that local people are concerned about the health impacts of this virus and will also need advice about other aspects of their lives, including their jobs, rent and social security payments. To keep staff, volunteers and clients safe we have closed our office but are committed to offering people all the help we can. Staff and volunteers have made incredible efforts to implement new ways of working to ensure we can continue to provide reassurance and support during this time of worry and uncertainty for us all.  We are entirely focussed on clients, communities, staff and volunteers. The coronavirus has widespread financial implications for individuals and UK and Scottish Government have outlined a series of measures this week to help people cope with events and circumstances not of their making. We are also working at pace to ensure our advice content is being updated to cover new issues around benefits, self-employment and sick pay, entitlement to Government loan schemes, travel cancellations, etc.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind people about other ways to access our advice, and during this very difficult time we are directing all of our resources to these methods of support.

As ever, CAB advice is free, impartial and completely confidential, whichever route you choose to access it."

For the foreseeable future,
